Early Access ReviewIs Goat of Duty enjoyable FPS? Yes, it is.Is it really good and unique game in it's genre? In fact, it's a pretty simple game where you have few different modes you may play. But sometimes simplicity is the best approach towards something and here it works.Game modes are nothing original really. Domination, which is pretty much capture the flag. Standard Free For All or Team Death Match.
Or Gun Game Mode, where after 2 kills game mode automatically swaps for a different weapon.I guess Fus Roh Da may be something different, but it wouldn't surprise me if somewhere this kind of game mode exist. What this one is that pretty much all players have access to something I would call 'air cannon' where they may push players from the map down or towards traps that brutally kill other players (via electrocution or exploding) and this is the only way to kill other players.And last mode, which is Markhor. In this mode group of players try to kill super goat, that has far more HP (500) and may kill other players only by ramming them directly. If someone kills Super Goat, they become new Super Goat. I think you know this kind of mode from other games like S4 League and its 'Chaser Mode' for example.This is it pretty much.
It's pure online game with several maps and if you can find servers where lag is alright, it's a simple FPS game you should enjoy if you like shooting people around.But I also need to point out some things, positive or negative:1. This is so far the problem.
Sometimes I play smoothly on 60 ping, but suddenly I may end up on a server where everyone has 600 pings. Thankfully in recent hours it wasn't that much of a problem, but it can be. Main reason for this is that players host directly servers here, which if you end up with a wrong host server. It's an issue, as if you quit the game, you loose your ladder points.Main issue that MUST be fixed here that PLAYERS SEE what kind of pings each server provide. Lack of this very basic function is really annoying and may ruin fun.2. I played so far 17 hours and I'm.
Almost in top200. I'm pretty confident in my skill, but not to the point I would say I should be that high up after only playing this game for several hours. It's a pretty new game and in 'early access' mode, so this may be explainable.But also it makes laddering too easy in a way that you may still gain ladder points with pretty much full server of bots and at least 1 other player. This sounds like an easy way to abuse laddering and I would say if any bot is on the server, it shouldn't count to ladder count.Also as long as you have positive score, more or less (and this is pretty much always an issue if you are in top3 at least) you will always raise in ranks. It's strange because if you play on a server full of beginners and you dominate the game, your ladder jump may actually be pretty impressive, even if you outclass skill wise other players.Yeah, in my honest opinion laddering needs some changes.3.
I'm really not a fan of disconnect making you automatically loose ladder points. Sometimes it happens and when your internet disconnects, you loose ladder points. An option where you may also quit the game at first minute if your pings are high would also be appreciated, but I'm not sure if this is possible to set up. But again, SIMPLY ADDITION of seeing pings on each server would fix this issue.4. Not a lot of players.
Sometimes you may only see 1-2 servers at once. But again, very early access explains it.I think that's it.For very early access, what we have is just enough to have fun, but it's not very varied at the moment.
But if you are FPS games fan, this should be a fun game to at least spend few hours on it.I picked it up from free as it was very recently possible to get it for free on Steam. Is the game worth 10 dollars it costs now? I would say this early on I would say it's worth around 5 dollars instead, but 10 dollars isn't that high of a price to not simply pay it if you want to pick it up. I've seen and played far worse products for this price, so this should be fine.
Early Access ReviewThis game is just badperformancethey say it is optimized, but it's not even close, I have a 1050ti in my desktop, playing at full low settings at 1600x900 I get about 50 fps. That is extremely bad performance for a dedicated graphics card. Also the performance was about the same running at full max settings and full low settings.gameplaythis is a doom clone, you can see that by just looking at the weapon design, and a very bad one at that. I wasn't expecting much out of this game, but it disappointed me by a lot.graphicsThey look OKAY at full settings, but don't expect good performance running this game at any settingsI got this for free, and there are far better free games available, and far better games available for $10, don't buy this.
If you want a good shooter for cheap, there are a lot of good free or sub $10 shooter (when on sale).
